Frame the whole movement

Place the device on a stable surface and position it far enough away to show your head, hands, and feet through the complete exercise. A camera that crops the ankles or wrists may not provide enough information for reliable movement feedback.

Lighting and background

Prefer even light from the front or side and avoid bright windows directly behind you. Keep the background relatively uncluttered and wear clothing that creates a clear outline against it. These changes can help vision models detect joints more consistently.

Use feedback thoughtfully

Automated movement cues can be helpful reminders, but they can be wrong when landmarks are missing or a movement is outside the model’s training distribution. Reduce intensity, stop when uncomfortable, and seek qualified guidance for pain, injury, or medical concerns.

Privacy by design

Before starting a camera session, review the app’s permissions and privacy information. Grant only the access you need, stop the session when finished, and avoid recording other people without their consent.
